You are a registered user and you know how to browse and search for feeds. Now it is time to organize your various sources into playlists so that you can quickly move back and forth between the news you need for work, the sports team news you enjoy, and everything else in between.
Lets start with the retickr Dashboard that you are becoming familiar with. We start all of our users off with various playlists in the beginning so that you can get as much initial value as possible without having to do too much work. Have an idea for a great playlist that you think retickr needs to include for everybody? Send us an email at feedback [at] retickr.com with your playlist suggestion and if we like it, see [your name here]‘s playlist come standard for all new retickr users. Pretty cool…
Stock playlists are nice but we created retickr so that you can customize it exactly how you want it. The first place to create a new playlist is in the bottom left corner of the Dashboard. Click on the button and retickr will make you a new playlist that will appear above with all of the others.
Once your new playlist is created you can rename it by “double-clicking” on the playlist title. When you are done typing either press enter or click anywhere on the Dashboard to submit your new name. Be creative and make as many playlists as you wish. News by city, sports team, specific interest, company… The possibilities are endless.
Now that your new playlist has been created and you have named it, go ahead and click on the playlist to open it up. You should be greeted with some text explaining how to find and add content as well as a delete button in the top right. Once this playlist contains feeds you can stream it by clicking on either the play button that appears while hovering over the various playlists or the big play button that lives to the left of the playlist title when you are viewing it’s contents.
The second way to create a playlist is on-the-fly when you find a feed that just doesn’t seem to belong in any of the previous playlists you have already made. When you see a feed you are interested in hover over the icon to see the drop-down arrow.
Now go ahead and click on the arrow to view the drop-down menu which allows you to do two things… add the particular feed to a playlist or create a new playlist, to which you can add this feed to of course.
Go ahead and click on CREATE NEW PLAYLIST and you will see a new playlist appear in the drop-down menu above. You can rename the playlist right here by double-clicking on it just as you would before. Once renamed go ahead and click on the title and the feed is added and ready to be streamed. Simple and easy.
You now know how to find content and build playlists. This is the foundation of the retickr experience and you are well on your way to getting the most out of what we have to offer. If you synced your social media accounts during the registration process feel free to jump ahead to reading and sharing. If not, head to adding social media so you can learn how to sync your Facebook and Twitter accounts with retickr and where these social media feeds live inside the application.
