We have had a lot of users asking how to bring their favorite youtube channels into retickr. To be honest, at first I didn’t know either, but after some googling around it is actually pretty simple to build an rss feed for any youtube channel.
Here is how you do it.
Google provides a very simple formula so that anyone can build an rss feed with their own channel name.
So, take this url and replace “CHANNELNAMEHERE” with a channel of your preference and copy/paste it into the retickr “Add Custom Feed” screen and you will then have a youtube rss feed that will allow you to stream all of your favorite videos in retickr.
retickr’s channel: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/retickr/uploads
Other popular YouTube Channel examples:
Daniel Tosh’s Channel: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/DANlELTOSH/uploads
Scobleizer’s Channel: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/Scobleizer/uploads
YouTube most viewed today: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/standardfeeds/GB/most_viewed?client=ytapi-youtube-browse&alt=rss&time=today
YouTube top favorites today: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/standardfeeds/top_favorites?client=ytapi-youtube-index&time=today&v=2
I hope this helps you better understand how to build rss feeds for youtube channels. If you have any further questions about adding custom feeds, don’t hesitate to email us at feedback [at] retickr.com. Adding custom feeds is unique to our 2.0.3 release which should be available in the mac app store sometime next week.
