We are a young start-up company based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We never really expected to end up here and as you know, things sort of just happen… We brought our idea to the Lamp Post Group last winter and after several pitches spaced out across several months, we were accepted into their inaugural class of companies.
As we quickly found out, we didn’t really know what we were doing. As is probably the case with most if not all first-time entrepreneurs, we needed more mentorship and less money and that is exactly what we got. Our time with Lamp Post has oftentimes been painful but if retickr is destined to become successful it would without a doubt come from our experiences here.
We launched retickr on August 10th and have now spent the last six months understanding how hard it actually is to have a product in the market. We think we have learned what does and does not work as well as which of our assumptions were right and which were flawed. We have learned that nothing is ever done. The fall and winter have been spent rebuilding and reworking our product from the ground-up and it has been frustrating, depressing, and a lot harder than we anticipated. We have fallen victim to a lot of start-up mistakes and hopefully they will not kill us.
If what we launched in August can even be considered a product, what we have now is much closer to a solution. Our newest release, retickr 2.0, is something that we have tried to do the right way and it is a pretty cool piece of software. It feels like a promising year.
